It's been said that the Yee Sang dish originated from Singapore somewhere in 1964. Don't really know much about the history but if you like to read about it, you can go to to wiki Yusheng. Anyway I look forward to Chinese New Year each year as I'm quite fond of this dish and you can usually only find it during the New Year Period. As usual, the Lee family came together on the eve of CNY for our reunion dinner. We would do it ala pot bless style and each family would bring or cook a different dish to be shared by all. This year it was decided that we would meet at Uncle Arthur's house. I managed to get some sparklers this year from the pasar malam and the kids had a gala time with them.
